Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a high-impact crackdown following the Pahalgam terror attack, security forces have demolished the houses of two terrorists accused of planning and executing the massacre. The operation took place in Monghama village of Tral in Pulwama district and Guri village in Bijbehara, Jammu and Kashmir.
The primary target was the residence of Asif Sheikh Adil, identified as one of the key figures behind the April 22 attack that killed 26 tourists. A joint operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was launched late at night. During the raid, the forces discovered a box containing batteries and wires, suggesting links to explosive devices. These were neutralised through a controlled blast, which led to the complete demolition of the house.
The entire area had been evacuated beforehand to ensure civilian safety. No casualties or injuries were reported during the operation. The raid is being hailed as a precise and symbolic blow against terrorism and its enablers within the Valley.
Alongside this, security forces also demolished the house of another Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guri. He is accused of being directly involved in the planning and logistics of the Pahalgam terror strike. Reports indicate that Adil had travelled to Pakistan in 2018 for terrorist training and returned to Kashmir in 2024 to join active operations.
These actions come amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following the Pahalgam attack. India has already responded by suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, cancelling the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistani nationals, and ordering the expulsion of Pakistani diplomatic staff.
Security experts believe the demolition of these homes is not just a punitive measure but also a warning to others sheltering terrorism. The operation underscores the Centre’s stated policy of zero tolerance against terror activities.
